My opinions are never really popular, and that is fine with me. I periodically start thinking of things that make me wonder. So I think a lot about the problems that we as a society face today. Overpopulation, crime, poverty, depletion of resources, diseases. It's an ever growing problem. I have to wonder if it is because of our technological advances. Do these advances in medicine and such contribute or harm the betterment of mankind? A lot of technology in my opinion has created a snow ball effect that we can't stop anymore unless everyone was on board to change or the Earth hits its reset button! Overpopulation seems to be the key reason for most problems we have. But why are we overpopulated? Is it because of us "big" families? No I believe its the advancements of medicine. The wondrous things that we can do to extend and save lives is incredible. I believe that we are all born with a purpose, and when that purpose is up then it's our time to go. Whether it be when we're 20, 30, or 90. Obviously if we get some kind of life threatening disease then just maybe that is what was supposed to happen. It is our human need to save people that we love. So on the surface that heart transplant seems wonderful. And yes, if I was in a situation to receive a transplant for me or my kids, I'd probably take it because of that human need. But I also believe it goes against nature. I don't believe in nature we are supposed to borrow someones organ, or penetrate our bodies with radiation to rid cancer, etc. It's not a natural process. I can't fault us as a human race for receiving these life saving things, but I truly think that these advancements have created a snow ball effect. We live longer and more people are alive today solely because of technological advancement that without it people would have died. That may seem harsh to some, but it's something to think about.
